St. John Henry Newman

This Icon is 12" x 16" painted with egg, tempura, and plated with 24 karat gold

I decided to paint him in oratory clothes, for that is how people would've known him best. He also had a peculiar habit of leaving his third button undone, which I wanted to include.

This icon was painted for the dedication of the Newman house, at Mount Calvary Catholic Church, Baltimore
